How Much Does Washer and Dryer Installation Cost?

Dryer only: $150–200. Positioning, exhaust vent connection to existing duct, power hookup (electric plug or gas line), leveling, airflow test, test cycle. If existing ductwork needs cleaning or replacement — see our vent cleaning ($150–200) or vent installation ($149–450) pages.

Washer only: $150–200. Positioning, hot and cold supply connections, drain hose routing, leveling, water pressure test, test cycle. Leveling the washer precisely matters — an unlevel washer vibrates, and vibration accelerates wear on drum bearings and spider arm components over time. We check all four feet with a level and adjust until it's correct.

Both together: $220–300. One trip, both units. More cost-effective than two separate visits and gets your laundry running the same day.

Stacked configuration: add $50–75. LG stacking requires a specific kit — KSTK1 or KSTK2 depending on model year — and not all DLGX/DLEX pairs are compatible for stacking. Give us both model numbers when you call and we confirm compatibility before arriving. Common in Beverly Hills condos, Santa Monica apartments, and Irvine units with limited laundry space.

Old unit removal: $50–75 per unit. We disconnect and remove old appliances and haul away all packaging from the new units. Useful when delivery only drops the new machines and doesn't take the old ones.

What's Included — Every Installation

Positioning and leveling. LG DLGX dryers and DLEX washers both need to be precisely level. An unlevel dryer vibrates and produces noise during operation — we've seen drum roller wear accelerated by machines that were never properly leveled at installation. On older floors in Pasadena and Glendale that aren't perfectly level, this takes a few minutes and matters. We check with a level and adjust all four feet.

All connections made correctly. Electric dryer: we confirm your outlet configuration before arriving — homes built before 1990 often have 3-prong outlets while current DLEX models ship with 4-prong cords. We bring both and swap the cord to match your outlet. Gas dryer: flexible connector to the supply shutoff, soap solution leak test on every fitting after connection. If the existing flexible connector is over 5 years old or kinked, we replace it — an old connector on a new dryer is a safety issue. Washer: hot and cold supply hoses, drain hose to standpipe or utility sink, connections tightened to spec.

Exhaust vent connected properly. The transition duct from the dryer to the wall duct — we use rigid or semi-rigid metal, never the foil accordion flex that ships with the dryer. We check the existing duct condition before connecting. A clogged or improper duct on a new dryer causes premature thermal fuse failure within months — we've repaired thermal fuses on brand-new machines in Torrance and Long Beach from exactly this situation. We won't connect a new dryer to a problem duct.

Leak test and airflow test. Water connections run and checked. Gas connections soap-tested on every fitting. Dryer exhaust airflow measured at the exterior cap.

Full test cycle. We run a short wash cycle and a dryer cycle before we leave. We don't consider the job done until both units are confirmed working. Packaging hauled away as part of the service.

Why Professional Installation vs. Store Installation

Big box stores — Home Depot, Best Buy, Costco — typically subcontract appliance installations to third-party companies with limited training and tight schedules. Store installers often skip steps that matter: checking gas pressure, verifying water temperature settings, measuring dryer exhaust airflow. Many store installations don't include a proper test cycle — the installers leave as soon as the machines are connected, not after confirming they actually work.

Improper installation voids LG's manufacturer warranty in specific ways — incorrect exhaust vent installation, wrong power connection, or improper leveling. We've been called in to repair machines that were still under LG warranty but had warranty claims denied because the installation was done incorrectly by the store contractor. That's a situation we prevent by doing the installation correctly from the start.

Basement installations in Burbank or second-floor laundry rooms in Glendale require different approaches than standard first-floor setups. We assess the specific installation location and plan accordingly. The price difference between store installation and professional installation is minimal — the quality difference is not.

LG DLGX and DLEX Installation — What We Know

We install and service these models daily across all three counties. Specific things that matter for installation:

3-prong vs 4-prong outlet. DLEX electric dryers ship with 4-prong cords. Homes built before 1990 in Pasadena, Glendale, and Burbank often have 3-prong outlets. We bring both cord configurations and swap before installation so you're not left with a mismatch.

ThinQ WiFi setup. We confirm the unit powers on and connects to the LG SmartThinQ network. We don't configure the app, but we make sure the unit is communicating correctly before we leave.

Gas connector age. LG recommends replacing the flexible gas connector if it's over 5 years old — we check it every gas installation and replace it if needed. We carry connectors on the truck.

Stacking compatibility. Not all DLGX and DLEX pairs stack together. We verify from your model numbers before arriving and bring the correct stacking kit. Installing an incompatible stack is a stability hazard — we don't do it.

User orientation. After installation we walk you through the basic settings for your specific model — optimal cycle settings, maintenance schedule (vent cleaning every 1–2 years, lint trap after every load), and what to watch for in the first few months of use.

Questions About Washer and Dryer Installation Cost

How much does washer and dryer installation cost in Los Angeles?

$220–300 for both units together — one trip, all connections made and tested, full cycle run, packaging hauled away. Dryer only: $150–200. Washer only: $150–200. Stacked configuration adds $50–75. Old unit removal $50–75 per unit.

Do you install both gas and electric dryers?

Yes. Electric: we confirm your outlet configuration before arriving (3-prong vs 4-prong) and bring both cord types. Gas: flexible connector to supply shutoff, soap solution leak test on every fitting after connection. If the existing flex connector is over 5 years old or kinked, we replace it — we carry connectors on the truck.

What if the existing dryer vent duct needs work?

We check the duct before connecting. If it's clogged, we can clean it same visit ($150–200). If it needs replacement, we quote separately ($149–450 depending on run length). We won't connect a new dryer to a problem duct — it causes thermal fuse failure within months.

Can you stack my LG DLGX and DLEX?

If they're a compatible pair — yes. Requires LG stacking kit KSTK1 or KSTK2 depending on model year. Not all DLGX/DLEX combinations are compatible. Give us both model numbers when you call and we confirm before arriving. Add $50–75 to base installation price.

Will the store installation void my LG warranty?

It can. LG's warranty specifies installation requirements — incorrect vent installation, wrong power connection, or improper leveling can give LG grounds to deny warranty claims. We install to LG's specifications so your warranty stays intact. We've repaired new machines in Torrance and Long Beach with denied warranty claims from exactly this situation.
