OEM LG dryer drum roller replacement parts
OEM LG drum rollers — we replace all four at once, never just one

The call usually starts the same way: "my LG dryer is making this loud squeaking noise, sounds like it's about to fall apart" — it's the drum rollers. They're small wheels that support the drum as it spins — four of them on most LG models — and when they wear out the noise can get impressive. Squealing, thumping, grinding, sometimes all three. We handle these calls all over Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Ventura County, from Burbank to Irvine to Thousand Oaks. It's one of the more satisfying repairs we do because the before and after is so obvious — you hear the difference the moment you start the dryer.

Three Stages of Worn Drum Rollers

Early stage: a soft squeaking that gets louder as the dryer warms up. We get calls from people in Pasadena and Glendale who've been living with this for months, figuring it'll go away on its own. It doesn't — it gets progressively worse every cycle, and the longer you run it, the more the worn rollers stress the drum shaft and axle. What starts as a $200 repair can turn into a more expensive one.

Early stage wear looks subtle — by the time it sounds like this the roller is already damaging the drum shaft

Mid stage: rhythmic thumping or rumbling you can feel through the floor. The drum is wobbling because the rollers aren't holding it steady. Clothes can come out wrinkled or bunched from the drum not rotating smoothly. In Torrance and Santa Monica we've seen drums that were wobbling enough to make contact with the cabinet walls — that's damage to both the drum and the housing.

Late stage: metal-on-metal grinding or screeching. The roller has worn through its outer material and the metal core is making contact. This is the point where people ask us if the machine is salvageable. Usually it is — but we need to check the drum shaft carefully for wear damage before we give a final number.

When the Noise Becomes a Safety Issue

Loud banging during the spin cycle means the drum is hitting the cabinet walls. That's not just a noise problem — it's active damage happening every cycle. Metal-on-metal grinding throughout the entire cycle means the roller bearings have completely failed. We've had jobs in Malibu and Calabasas where someone ran a dryer in that condition for weeks because they thought the noise was "just how it sounds now." By the time we got there the drum shaft was worn through and we needed to address that on top of the rollers. Catching it at the squeaking stage saves real money.

How We Handle the Repair

We show up with a full set of OEM rollers for your specific LG model — DLEX, DLGX, DLE. We pull the top and front panels, disconnect the drive belt, and lift the drum out. LG dryer drums run 40–50 pounds empty, so this is a two-person job or requires proper technique and lifting support. Once the drum is out we have full access to the roller assemblies and we can see exactly what we're working with.

We replace all four rollers as a set, not just the one that's obviously gone. They wear at similar rates because they're the same age doing the same job. Replacing one and leaving three at 80% worn means another service call within months — nobody wants that. While we're inside we also check the drum felt seals along the front edge and the idler pulley. If the seals are worn thin or the pulley feels rough when we spin it by hand, we'll show you and give you the option to do it while we're already in there. That's always cheaper than a separate visit.

After the drum goes back in and we've reconnected everything, we run a complete test cycle and listen. We don't call it done until the dryer runs quiet.

Can You Keep Using It While It's Noisy?

You can, but we'd recommend against it. Worn rollers don't hold the drum centered — the drum rubs against things it shouldn't, and that wear accumulates fast. The drive belt takes extra stress, the drum shaft gets worn, the felt seals get damaged from the drum moving unevenly. In Beverly Hills and Calabasas we regularly find dryers where six months of running through the noise turned a $200 repair into a $400 one because of secondary damage. The noise is the dryer telling you something is wrong. It's worth listening.

What It Costs

Drum roller replacement runs $280–350 total for most LG dryers. That's all four OEM rollers ($40–60 for the set) plus labor ($200–240). The $65 diagnostic fee comes off the bill when you approve the repair. We give you a written estimate before we touch anything — what's on that paper is what you pay.

If we find the drum slides or idler pulley also need attention, we'll quote that separately on-site before we proceed. We'll also be straight with you if we find something that changes whether repair makes sense. If your dryer also needs a heating element or thermal fuse at the same time, we'll walk you through the combined cost and let you decide. A new LG dryer starts around $800 — as long as the machine isn't falling apart in multiple places, $280–350 to fix the rollers with a 1-year warranty is an easy call.

Every invoice we send includes a 10% discount code for your next service call. It's our way of saying thanks to returning customers — the code never expires and applies to any LG dryer repair we do at your home.

Questions We Get on These Calls

My LG dryer is squeaking — is it definitely the rollers?

Squeaking on LG dryers is rollers about 80% of the time. The other 20% is usually the idler pulley or the drum slides — all three are in the same area and we check everything when we open the machine. We'll know exactly what's causing it within a few minutes.

Can I keep using the dryer while it's making noise?

You can, but every cycle makes it worse. Worn rollers let the drum move off-center, which puts stress on the belt, shaft, and seals. What's a $200 fix today can become a $400 fix after a few months of running through the noise. We'd get it looked at sooner rather than later.

Do you replace all four rollers or just the worn one?

All four, every time. They wear at similar rates — same age, same workload. Replacing just the obvious one leaves three that are close behind it, and you'll have us back within months. Doing them as a complete set is the right call financially and practically.

How long does the repair take?

Usually 60–75 minutes on-site. Drum roller replacement involves pulling panels and lifting out the drum, which takes a bit longer than simpler jobs. We run a full test cycle before we leave.

Is this covered under warranty if the dryer is still relatively new?

Drum rollers are typically classified as wear items and may not be covered under the standard LG warranty after the first year. If your dryer is still under warranty, call LG first — (800) 243-0000. If you're outside warranty or want same-day service rather than waiting, call us at (323) 990-7550.

What causes drum rollers to wear out early?

Overloading is the most common thing we see — people putting heavy items like comforters and boots in the dryer regularly. Lint buildup and poor ventilation causing the dryer to run hotter than normal also accelerates wear. And sometimes it's just age — on machines that are 8–10 years old it's expected.

Can you come today?

Yes — call (323) 990-7550. Same-day service across Los Angeles County, Orange County, and Ventura County, typically 2–4 hours from your call.
