LG gas dryers use a burner system instead of an electric heating element — which means when they stop heating, the cause is almost always the igniter, gas valve coils, or thermal fuse. All three are parts we carry on every truck. In most cases, an LG gas dryer that stopped heating can be diagnosed and repaired on the same visit.
Common LG Gas Dryer Problems We Fix
Igniter failure — most common
The igniter glows red-hot to light the gas burner. When it fails — usually after 5–8 years — the dryer runs but produces no heat. You can hear the drum spinning and the gas valve clicking, but the burner never lights. Igniter replacement: $280–350. Same-day repair in most cases.
LG dryer igniter replacement →Gas valve coils burned out
LG gas dryers use two or three solenoid coils to open the gas valve during each heating cycle. When one or more coils fail, the valve stays closed and no gas reaches the burner. The igniter glows normally — the gas just never flows. Coil replacement: $280–340. Full valve assembly: $380–450.
LG dryer gas valve replacement →Thermal fuse blown
The thermal fuse is a one-time safety device that cuts power to the burner circuit when the dryer overheats — usually due to a blocked vent. Once blown, it must be replaced and the root cause (the vent blockage) must be addressed. Otherwise the new fuse will blow again. Thermal fuse replacement: $280–350.
LG dryer thermal fuse replacement →Flame sensor failure
The radiant flame sensor monitors the burner and signals the gas valve to stay open. A failed sensor causes the burner to light briefly then shut off — clothes feel warm but never fully dry after a normal cycle. This is often confused with a gas valve problem and requires proper diagnosis with a multimeter. Repair: $280–340.
How We Diagnose LG Gas Dryers
Gas dryer diagnosis requires testing each component in sequence — igniter resistance, gas valve coil resistance, thermal fuse continuity, and flame sensor operation. Our technicians carry a multimeter and test each component on-site before recommending any parts. We never replace parts by guesswork.
The $65 diagnostic fee covers the full inspection and is waived when you approve the repair. We give you a written estimate before touching anything.
LG Gas Dryer Models We Service
We work on all LG gas dryer models including:
- LG DLGX series — DLGX3901V, DLGX4001V, DLGX5001V, DLGX6001V
- LG DLG series — DLG3471V, DLG5002V, DLG7001V
- LG DLHC series (LG Styler compatible)

Gas Safety — What We Check on Every Visit
Every LG gas dryer repair includes a gas connection inspection and soap leak test at no additional charge. We check the flexible gas line, shut-off valve, and all connections at the dryer before we leave. If we find a leak or an unsafe connection, we will tell you immediately and will not power the dryer until it is addressed.
